Why I have this book: I borrowed it from the ebook library on the recommendation of a friend.
I enjoyed this book. I felt there was a little contradiction between how the protagonist thought (the book is written in first person, so you "hear" her perspective on things) and how she acted. I had a hard time reconciling the weak woman she was in her actions with the way she thought in her mind.

An Unlikely Match (Sarah Eden)
Why I have this book: I borrowed it from DBS+.
I liked this book a lot. Having said that, it's not like it's a literary masterpiece, but it is super cute and enjoyable to read. Very lighthearted and a bit funny, not at all realistic (it's a ghost story), but you couldn't help but root for everything to turn out just right.

As Wide as the Sky (Jessica Pack)
Why I have this book: It was written by Josie Kilpack (Jessica Pack being her pen name due to how different this book is from her usual style), and I had heard enough about it to want to check it out.
It's a heavy book, and definitely different from the other books she's written. It's not perfect (it seemed a little Nicholas Sparks as it turned into a love story of sorts), but it sure sank into my soul and is stuck there for a while. It reminds me of the book A Mother's Reckoning by the mother of one of the Columbine shooters. These tragedies affect so many people, and I think we often forget the mothers and fathers and other loved ones of the killers. It's heartbreaking in so many ways.
Clean, with one or two swear words. The subject matter is heavy and sad, but also is about redemption and resilience of the human spirit.

Worth Waiting For (Sally Johnson)
Why I have this book: I borrowed it from DBS+ because I read the first book in the series and enjoyed it.
I enjoyed this one, as well. I gave it three stars on Goodreads, just because it doesn't all seem super realistic, but it's great for a fun, light read.

A Christmas by the Sea (Melody Carlson)
Why I have this book: I borrowed it from the ebook library.
I really enjoyed this book... until the end. It's like she decided it was time to finish it up, so all of the sudden, everything wrapped up real quick-like and that was that. It's only 176 pages, so really, more could have been written to make it more believable at the end.
I'm surprised it has such high reviews on Amazon.
I gave it two stars on Goodreads.

The Lemonade Year (Amy Willoughby-Burle)
Why I have this book: I borrowed it from the ebook library after reading about it in Deseret Book.
I'm still a bit perplexed about this book. It's sold and advertised at Deseret Book. It's promoted as being "LDS Fiction." Yet the characters aren't LDS, nor is the author from what I can tell. I don't care... I read lots of non-LDS books, but I'm just confused why it's published by Shadow Mountain (typically LDS books) and promoted as being LDS. There's nothing overly religious about it, although there is a bit of spirituality/relationship with God involved.
Anyway, I did enjoy the book. I liked the writing style, and I liked the depth of characters. It made me think, and it's stuck with me after finishing it. I gave it four stars on Goodreads.
Clean, although there is some discussion about a possible marital affair.

Why Isn't God Answering Me? (Gerald N. Lund)
Why I have this book: I borrowed it from the DBS+ library. I "read" the audio version.
Too bad it wasn't read by the author!
I don't know... it was good. There were some parts that struck a chord with me, but for the most part, I mostly felt like you basically have to be perfect to hear the voice of the Lord. I don't think that was the author's intent. I think he was just trying to help the reader sort through things that might be preventing them from receiving or hearing the answers to their prayers. I can see how it's a helpful way to provoke thought about what you might need to tweak in order to clear the channels between you and God.
I just wish it didn't seem like all the stars have to align perfectly in order to commune with God. It shouldn't be that hard when a child needs help and direction from his or her Father.
I gave it three stars on Goodreads.
