Why I have this book: I borrowed it from the DBS+ as an audio version.
I liked this book a lot. (I gave it four stars on Goodreads.) It's one that I would buy in print even though I've already listened to it. There are lots of words of inspiration that can be shared with others who are struggling, and it's a great reference to have on hand for when life is feeling rough.

Check Me Out (Becca Wilhite)
Why I have this book: I read another of the author's years ago that I really liked, so when this one was on sale on DBS, I bought it.
Besides the fact that reading a book on DBS is way more difficult than on my Kindle (too small of screen on my phone, backlit lighting, etc.), I liked this book enough. I gave it 3 stars on Goodreads.
On the bummer side, I quickly grew tired of the juvenile way the protagonist spoke. She was narrating the book, so all that silly young mommy blogger way of writing/talking was never ending. A woman with a master's degree in Library Sciences would hopefully be more mature than that.
The love story(ies) didn't seem believable. Again, it was juvenile, especially considering the ages of the characters. I didn't have a lot of hope in how things turned out, and I can't really say why without giving more details and spoiling the book for you if you plan to read it. The focus on physical appearance, whether hot or not, was very over-the-top... and again, very juvenile and shallow.
It was cute enough to keep my interest in spite of the above-mentioned issues, but was probably written more for the (very) young adult crowd. It had a bit of Cyrano de Bergerac going on, which I'm assuming was a deliberate decision on the author's part, but who knows?

Keeping Kinley (Annette K. Larsen)
Why I have this book: I bought the Kindle version along with the other books in the series after enjoying the first book, Just Ella, so much.
I would say this is the second best of the series (Just Ella being my favorite). It was very cute and fun, if not necessarily realistic. It's a great book for escape and entertainment.

Amazed by Grace (Sheri Dew)
Why I have this book: I listened to it on the DBS+.
I love Sheri Dew. Have I mentioned that before? And I loved this book. In fact, I was about to buy a copy when I realized that the book (it looks like the entire thing, although she may have added a bit to the book) came from a talk she gave at BYU Women's Conference in 2014. I'm lucky enough to have that talk in a book of that conference. (The title of that book is The Lord Will Give Grace and Glory, and her talk is titled "Sweet Above All That Is Sweet.")
I looked it up in my Kindle, and I had highlighted pretty much all the things I took notes on as I listened to the book. I appreciated how plain and direct she was in explaining what we need to do to access the power of God through the grace of the Savior. She also mentioned a transcript she listened to about the Atonement by Bruce C. Hafen, so that is next on my list.
I'm thankful for women like Sheri Dew who are able to reach so many of us through being spiritual and down-to-earth women. It helps me feel like I can be better than I am.

Changed Through His Grace (Brad Wilcox)
Why I have this book: I bought the Kindle version long ago, but found the audio version on DBS+, so I listened to it instead of reading it.
I gave it three stars on Goodreads. I liked it and the message of it, but I felt the delivery wasn't as engaging as some of the other audiobooks I've listened to. It did get better closer to the end, which is why I gave it three stars instead of two! I'm actually starting an audiobook by Sheri Dew which is also about grace, so it will be interesting to compare the two.

Date with Danger (Kari Iroz)
Why I have this book: My niece recommended it. It was a decent price, so I bought the Kindle version.
Okay, so at first, I thought this was going to be a kinda dumb book. But it ended up sucking me right in. I enjoyed it A LOT. (Four stars on Goodreads from me!) It's super cute and funny and romantic. There is a sequel, but it was pricier than this one. I've put it on my wish list and I'll see if the price drops. I definitely will be reading it, though.

Seek This Jesus (Neill Marriott)
Why I have this book: I borrowed the audio version from DBS+.
This book is soooooo good. I really, really loved it. Is that dramatic enough? But seriously, I loved hearing Sister Marriott's Southern accent, and I loved how real she is. I'm grateful she is humble enough to share her weaknesses and experiences where she wasn't proud of her behavior. I'm grateful she shared her faith and the way she chose to take a higher road as she realized her mistakes. It's a book that gave me a lot of hope and helped me to feel the Spirit each time I listened to it. I gave it 5 stars on Goodreads.

The Tutor's Daughter (Julie Klassen)
Why I have this book: It's a book club pick this year, so I borrowed it from the ebook library.
I liked this book a lot - except when I didn't. This is what I didn't like:
1) The religious part seemed forced or out of place. There was very little mention of it and it didn't seem part of the character at all, until all of the sudden he's speaking of his Christian beliefs with such fervor that I was wondering where it had been the rest of the story.
2) The last part was more cheesy than the rest of the book. It wasn't horrible, but it just wasn't good as the book had been up until then.
All in all, I liked it. I probably would have given it 3.7 stars on Goodreads if I could, but we have to give a whole number, so I went ahead and gave it a 4.

Worth the Wrestle (Sheri Dew)
Why I have this book: I borrowed the audio version from the DBS+ and loved it. In fact, I loved it so much that I bought the ebook so I can go back and reference some of the things Sheri Dew said.
Sheri Dew is just awesome anyway. I'm hoping I can find more of her books on audio because I would love to hear more of her. I gave this one 5 stars on Goodreads.
