Why I have these books: I had the first one on my Kindle. I don't even know when I got it. I'm guessing it was free or under a dollar. But tricky Beverly Lewis basically didn't finish the first book before it ended, so then you had to read the second one. And... that one also didn't finish up the story, so you had to read the third one. Luckily, they were both available to borrow at the ebook library, so I was able to finish the whole story. Well, sort of. There were a few open ended situations, but it's fine.

I gave the first one two stars on Goodreads. It was okay, but I did want to know what happened. I mean, she made a pretty clear hint at some things, so I was curious how it would play out. I thought book two was better than book one, so I gave it three stars... and then the third book (while nicely tying up some loose ends), was also a little frustrating. I'm sorry, but I definitely didn't feel inspired to be Amish by reading these books, and I was annoyed that some of the characters seemed to embrace the culture after having struggled with it for three books. But whatever, right? It's fine.

Anyway, I did enjoy them enough overall even if I didn't appreciate the Amish culture with all the rules and patriarchy. I would have chosen a different path for the main protagonists, but... it's fine. Haha

Clean. There is one storyline that implies married sex and that they had sex before marriage, but these are Christian books, so it's all not described in the least.

The Seven Day Switch (Kelly Harms)

Why I have this book: It was an Amazon First Reads free book.

Okay, so I gave this book 4 stars on Goodreads. I loved the way the author captured womanhood and friendship and mothering. It made me happy.

I probably should have taken off a star for the F-words, but I didn't.

There was one editing error that really threw me off, so I wish I could fix that. (It was a detail that messed up the timing of something that happened.)

Loved this quote: "Haven't we all had those moments where the "road diverged" and both roads ahead are equally fascinating and equally cool? But you take one or the other and your life happens after that." (Susan Baroncini-Moe)

There was some profanity, including the F-word. There were a few discussions of sex, but nothing detailed or weird considering the situation. 

Turtles All the Way Down (John Green)

Why I have this book: My friend recommended it, so I borrowed it from the ebook library.

I liked it. I mean, I gave it three stars on Goodreads, and that is defined as "I liked it." 

I thought it was super clever, but also a little unlikely in some regards.  

There was way too much profanity, especially since it's written for the teenage/young adult crowd.

I did like the OCD theme, and I liked the idea that if we can make a B+ life out of the C- issues we have, then we can be proud of that:

"You're a solid B-plus. If you can build a B-plus city with a C-minus geography, that's pretty great." (They were comparing people to their city that was built around some pretty unimpressive geographical characteristics.)

All in all, it was a good chance to read something by John Green. Just because of the profanity, I don't know if I'd read his stuff again unless it was something highly recommended by a trusted friend.

Lots of profanity (mostly from one character). Some talk about sex. An implied suicide.
