Why I have this book: I borrowed it from the ebook library after reading on an old email that I was reading it. I couldn't remember it, so I thought I'd read it again.
It was okay. I gave it 2 stars on Goodreads. I'm curious if I liked it better the first time I read it. (It was before I started the blog in 2010, or it would be on here already.) I just didn't love the characters or their interactions very much. Maybe I'm just too cynical now. :)
I can say that I'm glad the author kept their relationship clean, considering the female protagonist was married to someone else.
Clean. I can't remember for sure, but I don't think there was even any swearing.

Pollyanna Grows Up (Eleanor H. Porter)
Why I have this book: I bought it for Kindle after reading Pollyanna.
I enjoyed this book. It wasn't really a page-turner, so it took me a while to get through it, but it got more interesting as it went along.
I liked it enough to purchase a Kindle compilation of fourteen books by the author for $1.99. She actually wrote quite a few books for adults that did pretty well back in her day, so I'm interesting in reading those.
Clean.

Becoming Lady Lockwood (Jennifer Moore)
Why I have this book: I borrowed it from DBS+.
This book kept my attention pretty well throughout, but there were so many things that were just too contrived for me to give it a solid three stars. If I could rate it according to categories (like "How well did it keep your attention?"), then there would have been three or four stars there, but I can really only give it two stars because it was too silly and unrealistic in places. For instance, just the way the heroine is universally admired and the way she "saves the day"... yeah, not really my thing.
The writing was good, though, and kept me pulled in. It did seem to me that the author went from using contractions (I'll, we'll, you'll, I'm, etc.) during most of the book, to not using them toward the end, with the conversations becoming more formal. I could be mistaken, but the rhythm of the writing changed, and that's what seemed to stick out in my mind.
In any case, it was okay. I was having a cranky day and it was a good way to "drown my sorrows."

You Are Magnificent (Ganel-Lyn Condie)
Why I have this book: I borrowed the audio version from DBS+.
While there were some parts that I liked (and they would have made this a 3-star book for me), I really could only give it a 2-star rating on Goodreads. It was just okay, in my opinion.
The narrator on the audio version isn't the author, and I do have to say she did a great job.
