The War I Finally Won (Kimberly Brubaker Bradley)

Why I have this book: I borrowed it from the ebook library after enjoying the first one so much.

This one was maybe even a tiny bit better than the first one. I really enjoyed them both so much, and will likely read other books by this author.

The story is set during WWII in England, and chronicles the friendships and relationships that grow between two evacuee children and those who care for them.

Clean. As in the first book, a romantic relationship between two women is very vaguely implied. Even an adult friend of mine didn't catch it in the first book, and this book addresses it even less. 

Same Kind of Different As Me (Ron Hall and Denver Moore)

Why I have this book: It was one of our book club books this year.

Okay, I gave this 4 stars on Goodreads because it really has a great message and is a wonderful story of how we are all God's children and how we can all make a difference in the lives of others. This is a true story written by two of the men who "star" in the book, each of them telling about the experience of growing their unlikely friendship from their own point of view.

Having said that, it also has a very sad component which I wasn't expecting. I'm still getting over that part, and I haven't quite embraced the beauty of the rest of the story yet... but it is there.

This book is clean. I don't think there was even any swearing in it.
