Ranger's Apprentice: Book One (John Flanagan)

The Ruins of Gorlan

Why I have this book: I can't remember where I heard about this series, but I bought them for my son. There are ten books in the series, and by the time he got through the first few, we were pre-ordering the ones that were still being published here in the States. (The author is Australian.)

I mostly decided to read this book because my son (and my daughters) had read it and loved it, and I felt like I should give them a try. It looks a little "Lord of the Ring"ish, and I wasn't sure how I would like it, but I actually enjoyed it. I think my girls (teenagers) liked the series, but I would definietly classify them (at least this first one) as a book for boys. There are never too many books that have "boy appeal" in my opinion, so YEA for John Flanagan.

Definite keepers.

There is some swearing in this book.
