Why I have these books: These are real books (not on my Kindle) and I have them because I really like Jennifer Chiaverini books.

My copy of The Runaway Quilt is actually the first book of another large Elm Creek Quilts combined volume (The Elm Creek Quilts Album, which includes books 3 - 6)... but instead of reading the next two books, I skipped ahead to The Sugar Camp Quilt because it ties in with the same characters as The Runaway Quilt. Got all that?

Anyway, both of these books are set just before the Civil War. I am pretty sure there are two other books that involve the same time period and characters, but off the top of my head, I can't remember which ones they are. Too bad Ms. Chiaverini doesn't put sub-categories on her website that make it easy to determine which Elm Creek Quilt books are the contemporary ones, which are set in the 1800's, which are set in California, etc...

Or I can just read the back of the books or the descriptions on her website.

I enjoyed both of these books. I've pretty much liked all the Elm Creek Quilt books and will keep all the ones I have and will most likely buy any others that come out.

Clean. There is some talk about how slaves were often raped by the "owners." If I remember correctly, in The Runaway Quilt, the "n word" was written like this: n------. I was surprised when in The Sugar Camp Quilt, the word was actually spelled out. There also may have been (but I'm not sure) a swear word or two between the two books.
